Robert is a registered pharmacist, who graduated from Curtin University in 1990, and is a Member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia.
From 1991 to 2003 he operated community pharmacies as a co-owner and manager in Western Australia.
In 2003, subsequent to gaining experience in intellectual property management, he was appointed to the role of Commercialisation Manager with the Environmental Biotechnology Co-operative Research Centre at Murdoch University, where he was involved in the protection of Intellectual Property and in identifying new biotechnology business opportunities throughout Australia. During this time Robert was instrumental in developing the curriculum of the Master of Pharmacy course at Murdoch University.
In 2004 Robert undertook the position of Chief Executive Officer of the pharmaceutical manufacturing operation PharmAust Manufacturing in Welshpool, Western Australia, where he was involved in the registration of therapeutic goods and the licensing of a new manufacturing facility.
Having completed his role in the manufacturing facility, in 2005 Robert returned to Murdoch University to establish the Pharmacy program and recruit staff.
Robert is a member of the Australian Government’s Department of Health and Ageing PPSAC (Professional Programs and Services Advisory Committee) Research and Development Steering Committee, providing advice and recommendations on the development, implementation and ongoing management of the Fourth Community Pharmacy Agreement Research and Development Program. His interests are in Clinical Trials, and in particular in “Good Clinical Practice”, which he teaches.
Robert is committed to building a pharmacy program which provides a rapidly evolving profession with graduates suitably skilled for the task.
