Postgraduate Certificate in Pharmacy Entry

Duration: 1 semester full-time or part-time equivalent

Students without the prerequisites for direct entry into the Master of Pharmacy have the opportunity to complete these units via the Postgraduate Certificate (12 points) or Postgraduate Diploma (24 points) in Pharmacy Entry. Units are taken in areas not previously studied in order to fulfill the Master of Pharmacy prerequisite areas of Chemistry, Human Biology, Physiology, Biochemistry, Microbiology and Mathematics/Statistics.

The units that form your Postgraduate Certificate program will be selected from those listed below to ensure that the prerequisites for the Master of Pharmacy program are covered.

Admission Requirements: Students must have completed a Science degree and must not have completed equivalent units in that degree.

Articulation: This course provides articulation into the Master of Pharmacy for students that have not previously studied all six prerequisite subjects.

Application process: Download the application form for Admission to Master of Pharmacy and follow the instructions on the last page. Domestic students should send the form to the Prospective Students and Admissions Centre, while International Students should send the form to Murdoch International. If you do not meet the pre-requisites for the Master of Pharmacy program you may be offered a place on the Postgraduate Certificate or Postgraduate Diploma in Pharmacy Entry to fulfill the required subject areas. There is no deadline; applications are assessed on a non-competitive basis as they are received. You should expect to hear from us within one month of receipt of your application.

Physiology: BMS107 Principles of Vertebrate Physiology — 3 pts or NUR104 Human Bioscience II – 3 pts
Biochemistry: CHI281 Chiropractic Biochemistry — 4 pts or BIO270 Biochemistry I — 4 pts or BMS261 Human and Comparative Biochemistry — 4 pts
Microbiology: BIO263 Microbiology I — 4 pts or BMS203 Comparative & Human Microbiology— 4 pts
Mathematics/Statistics: MAS183 Statistical Data Analysis and Databases — 3 pts or MAS184 Biostatistics and Information Retrieval — 3 pts

N.B. Some units have their own pre-requisites that may also need to be studied, such as:
